Simplified Deployment, Management and Support with Apple

Delivering a school-managed 1:1 Apple program driving a consistent technology experience while simplifying device deployment, management and support.

The Opportunity

Establish a consistent and equitable student technology experience through a standardised school-managed 1:1 device program while simplifying deployment, support and device management.

The Approach

Winthrop implemented an end-to-end Apple MacBook Air program incorporating white-glove deployment, Jamf device management, asset tagging, configuration, warranty services and ongoing support.

The Outcome

More than 1,000 Apple devices are managed through a standardised environment, supporting consistent learning experiences, streamlined administration and simplified support for students, staff and families.

Our goal was to provide every student with access to the same high-quality technology while making the process as simple as possible for families. The partnership with Winthrop has enabled us to deliver a consistent, well-supported technology program that enhances learning and provides confidence for students, parents and staff.

The Opportunity

Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs is a Year 7-10 secondary campus committed to providing students with access to technology that supports teaching, learning and collaboration throughout their school journey.

The College sought to establish a consistent and equitable technology experience for every student through a school-managed 1:1 device program. By standardising on a single platform, the College aimed to ensure students had access to the same tools and learning resources, while reducing variability in device performance, compatibility and support requirements.

Equally important was creating a straightforward experience for families. The College wanted a solution that simplified purchasing, warranty management, repairs and technical support, while ensuring every student could begin learning with a device that was ready to use from day one.

The Approach

Working closely with Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs, Winthrop Australia implemented a fully managed Apple MacBook Air program designed to support students throughout their secondary school years.

Families access a dedicated online portal to purchase the approved device along with recommended accessories and protection options. The portal provides a consistent purchasing experience and clear communication throughout the ordering process.

Prior to deployment, each MacBook Air undergoes Winthrop’s white-glove provisioning process. Devices are enrolled into the College’s Jamf management environment, configured with required applications and security settings, asset tagged, quality tested and prepared for immediate use.

The solution combines Apple MacBook Air devices, Jamf management, deployment services, warranty and accidental damage protection, and ongoing lifecycle support. This allows the College to maintain a standardised technology environment while reducing administrative overhead for ICT staff.

The Outcome

The school-managed 1:1 device program has helped create a consistent technology experience across the College while simplifying management and support processes for students, staff and families.

Consistency Across the Student Cohort

By standardising on Apple MacBook Air, the College has established a consistent platform for teaching and learning. Students have access to the same devices, applications and resources, supporting a more equitable classroom experience.

The standardised environment helps reduce compatibility concerns and ensures students can participate in digital learning activities with confidence.

Simplified Device Management and Support

Today, more than 1,000 Apple devices are managed through the College’s Jamf environment, giving the ICT team centralised oversight of device configuration, software deployment and security management.

The structured deployment and support model also provides clear pathways for warranty claims, repairs and ongoing assistance, making the process easier for both families and staff.

Supporting Teaching and Learning

With students using a common technology platform, teachers can focus more on delivering curriculum outcomes and less on managing device-related differences within the classroom.

The result is a learning environment where technology supports educational objectives through reliable access to digital tools and resources.

Why It Worked

The success of the program is built on a combination of technology standardisation, operational simplicity and ongoing support.

By selecting a school-managed 1:1 model built around Apple MacBook Air and Jamf, Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs established an environment that aligns with its educational and operational goals. Students receive devices that are ready for use from the outset, while staff benefit from consistent management and support processes.

Winthrop’s end-to-end approach, encompassing procurement, deployment, device management and lifecycle support, enables the College to maintain a scalable and sustainable technology program that delivers a reliable experience for students, families and educators.
